A book stand is a great gift idea for any real lover of books. Currently offered types range from straight forward wire creations like the Fold’N'Stow that holds a book at adjustable angles on any flat surface, to the infinitely more elaborate LEVO Bookholder that embraces a book or other reading material in either a floor stand model or a clamp-on design that easily clamps to just about any table, desk, or counter top. Most book stand models function well with hardcovers, but they also can work very well with paperback books held by book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is among the least expensive of book stands. It folds virtually flat and comes with it’s own convenient pouch designed for use in a 3 ring binder. It may be positioned on a counter top for cook books, or atop any desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page keepers swing from the back plane to secure your book open, and, by moving the arms either closer together or farther apart, smaller and larger books are easily accommodated. The back of the stand has horizontal pieces that may be raised or lowered to vary the angle at which the book is held relative the substrate.
The LEVO’s most popular book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which includes a weighted rolling base for ease of movement just about anywhere. Wherever you position it, the LEVO will support in virtually any position you can imagine. Incorporating a bookboard which can be moved in any plane, and combined with a book mounting mechanism that will securely hold your book or other reading material, even upside down, the LEVO enables hands-free reading practically anywhere.
The LEVO Clamp-on model is just as handy as the LEVO Floor Model, but features a clamp that securely attaches to any countertop, workbench, desk, table or other flat surface up to 2 inches thick, and offers the same movements as the floor stand model, without the range of telescoping movements vertically. By holding your reading materials up off the surface to which it is attached, the clamp on design saves the weight and expense of the weighted rolling base while conserving work space, since neither your book nor your book holder rest on the surface.
Even though there are other book stand designs available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO book stands have stood the test of time and hold up well to heavy use.
